Comunilife’s Medical Respite Program is a 63-bed alternative for hospital patients who have been medically cleared for discharge but lack a stable environment to complete recovery. We partner with hospitals and managed-care companies to reduce hospital readmissions and help patients recover faster — one safe bed at a time.

§ 02 – How Medical Respite works

Four steps from hospital bed to a safer next step.

A short stay, full care coordination, and a team focused on what comes after — not just on the discharge itself.

Step 01

Partner referral

A hospital or managed-care company refers a patient who is medically cleared but has nowhere suitable to recover. We confirm eligible, intake quickly, and prepare a bed.

Step 02

Recovery in a safe bed

Patients move into one of 63 beds with 24/7 staffing, three meals, medication support, and the basic dignity of a private space to heal in.

Step 03

Supportive services

Access to medical follow-up, behavioral health, benefits enrollment, and social services — coordinated with the referring hospital and the patient’s care team.

Step 04

Next-step housing

Staff work alongside each patient to secure the proper level of permanent or next-step housing before discharge — closing the loop, not opening another.
