2012 Anniversary Breakfast, All Lives are Precious
Dear Colleagues and Supporters,
On behalf of Comunilife’s board, staff, and program participants, I want to thank you for making our 2012 Anniversary Breakfast, All Lives are Precious, such a huge success. With your generous support, we raised more than $170,000 towards Comunilife’s unique, cutting-edge Life is Precious™ (LIP) Latina adolescent suicide prevention program!
The Breakfast –emceed by Jorge Ramos, Anchor of Noticiero 47 at 6 & 11 P.M. – allowed us to honor Corazon Award recipients, Teresa Mason, Esq. – Vice President of Health Policy Pharmaceutical Division, Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation; Jorge E. Reynardus – Chief Strategy Officer and Partner at MGSCOMM; and Lillian Rodriguez Lopez – Director, Latin Affairs, for The Coca Cola Company. We also celebrated the achievements of Community Impact Award recipients Dr. Michael F. Hogan – Commissioner of the NYS Office of Mental Health; and The Honorable Felix W. Ortiz – NYS Assemblyman and Chair of the NYS Assembly Mental Health Committee and the NYS Assembly/Senate Puerto Rican & Hispanics Task Force.
Most of all, the Breakfast allowed us all to witness – first-hand – the strength, courage, poise, and artistry of our extraordinary LIP participants.
Thanks to the commitment of friends like you, Comunilife can continue helping these and other inspiring young Latina women to overcome their considerable challenges – and to contribute their dazzling talents towards making our world a better place. No one could express it better than LIP participant Cathylee:
We all have stories to tell, secrets to hide and walls …built to protect our own sanity. At LIP I found …that not only my own life is special, but that everyone’s life is special… I survived my own battle with myself and my family…and now have a strong will to help others who wander aimlessly with no goals or purpose. You are looking at a future art therapist. Thank you, LIP!
And mil gracias to all of you!
Dr. Rosa Gil
