On November 14, 2014, a record 372 friends and supporters came together to celebrate Comunilife’s 25 years of providing housing and mental health services to New York City’s most vulnerable residents and raise money for Life is Precious™, a program that reduces suicide among Latina adolescents.

During the 25th Anniversary Breakfast, which took place at the Times Center, Comunilife presented four awards to individuals  who share the belief that housing is a social determinant of health and that reducing health disparities both through affordable housing and access to culturally appropriate health care is necessary and at a minimum what New Yorkers deserve. Community Impact Awards were presented to: Deputy Mayor Lilliam Barrios-Paoli and New York State Office of Mental  Health Commissioner, Dr. Ann Marie T. Sullivan. Corazon Awards were presented to Rafael E. Cestero, President and CEO of Community Preservation Corporation and Richard Roberts, Managing Director of Acquisitions at Red Stone Equity Partners. Darlene Rodriguez, from WNBC 4 served as the Mistress of Ceremony.

A highlight of the morning was a performance of an original song “This Is My Moment to Shine”by the girls from Life is Precious™, which showcased their musical talent and the skills they acquired through their creative arts therapy activities which were primarily funded by a $50,000 grant from Assemblyman Felix Ortiz and the New York State Assembly.

During the Breakfast a new  Life is Precious™ program video premiered.

Also Videos from Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.
