ELIZABETH AND MICHAEL SQUICCIRINI

HELP COMUNILIFE "GO TO THE VIDEO TAPE"

Elizabeth and Michael Squiccirini heard Comunilife's call for help and answered it with the donation of a Sony Video Camera for our new program, "Proyecto Vida". Program Director, Ms Elba Acosta (picture above) was extremely grateful for the new camera, a necessity for her program in these technologically suave times.

"For us, donating the camera was a no-brainer," stated Ms. Squiccirini. "You have this wonderful program that is helping to raise the awareness of people about this horrible problem of teenage suicide, how could we say no?"

"Proyecto Vida" is Comunilife's grassroots information and education program aimed at reducing the alarming number of Latina Teenage Suicides. One in six Latinas between the ages of 12 and 16 will attempt suicide, according to the Center for Disease Control, with an even greater average of occurance in New York City.

"As life-long New Yorkers, we could not sit by while these girls are dying," stated Mr. Squiccirini, an avid technology shopper. "I grew up in Brooklyn and whenever times got rough, you could count on your neighbor for a helping hand. New Yorkers always pull together when there is a crisis, remember 9/11? Well this is a crisis and we're happy to help."

"I hope more people become aware of the problem and of all the things you (Comunilife and Proyecto Vida) are doing to make a difference," stated Ms. Squiccirini, "I think that people would be happy to give if they only knew the facts. How can you so "no" when your "yes" could save someone's life?"

Thank you to Brooklyn's own. Elizabeth and Michael Squiccirini, donors and life savers!
